British Airways has launched a 3G iPhone application which allows customers to access time arrival and departure information, view the BA timetable and book flights.

Two British Airways information management staff, Andy Qua and Justin Davis, developed the application on a prototype device.

"When it was demonstrated to the BA Innovations team, it was immediately taken onboard for full commercial development."

Paul Coby, CIO at British Airways, said: “The iPhone allows us to provide instant access to arrivals and departures information which will enhance the experience of traveling with BA."

Apple's iPhone App Store opened for business today with nearly 900 applications ready for download.
